Australian Flag Card.

Hello Beautiful crafters,

Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Aussies, wherever you may be around the world. I hope you have a wonderful day!

I was sitting at my desk just looking at my craft stash when i noticed Blueberry Bushel kept grabbing my attention. Then i realized, Hey, it's the perfect colour of my national flag. Then i seen my Twinkle Builder Punch and HELLO, it has a bunch of small stars in different sizes in it... A punch that is targeted towards baby projects ended up being put on a national flag card...Hmmmm, now i have my thinking cap well and truly on! Found myself a teeny bit of Poppy Parade cardstock and what do you know, it all comes together wonderfully for our Australian Flag! Imagine my excitement when i found all of this!

So i sat down and worked out this card. Was it easy? Yeah not so much, lol. I mean everything was pretty easy until i hit the Union Jack part of the card. I only had a small amount of Poppy Parade CS so i knew it had to work out on the first, if not the second try.

I'm not a mathematical person at all. My cards are all done on the fly, very willy nilly. But in comes my boyfriend. He says, you know Mel, the Aussie flag is made into quarters!.....Me, oh crap it is too, well now i do have to be precise don't I? lol. So i made the flag as best i could into quarters.

Now if you're an eagle eye like i am, you will notice our flag has 6 stars, 5 with 7 points and one with 5 points. The stars in our Twinkle Builder Punch all have 5 points, so that is one little aspect that isn't perfect but over all i think it's a truly wonderful card, and i'm so proud i made it.

Now i do have a little story to go with why i made an Australia Day card. Please bare with me, i will try very hard to make it as short as possible.
You will notice i have made the card with a sentiment and without one.
The line We Are One, But We Are Many, comes from a beautiful song by The Seekers.
That particular line means a lot to me. I am the daughter of an Immigrant. My mother and her parents came to Australia after WW2. Their first day in a completely new country was the first day, of a new year, and a new decade. I guess you could say everything for them was well and truly new. lol.

My nana had the thickest, most darling broken English accent. When people asked her, Halina, where are you from?? Her answer was ALWAYS, I am Australian. She loved this country, this country gave her freedom, safety and a new start. While i was brought up on Polish/Ukrainian food, everything else was very much the Australian way.
I will always be grateful my grandparents chose to come here. I have an addiction to people with accents, if you have an accent, i'm hooked! haha.
So you see, the reason i wanted to use that particular song line in my card was because,
1: I have experienced first hand what a new start can do for a family that came from distress.
2: I love everyone, no matter the skin colour, their backstory, their disabilities etc. We do come from many different places, but at the end of the day, we are one, we are all Australian!

Okay, enough talkie talkie! lol. Let's look at pictures. Fun!
